War is not healthy
Once upon a time, long long ago in a culture far far away, there was a popular poster that looked as though it were drawn by a child. The poster became very famous. The poster simply said:
“War is not healthy for children and other living things.”
Perhaps it should be amended to say:
“War is not healthy for children, (the planet) and other living things.”
Israel’s military response (in the first sixty days) to the brutal attack by the terrorist organization Hamas has been estimated to be equal to burning about 150,000 tons of coal. The Hamas rockets launched at Israel in retaliation during those first sixty days are estimated to be equal to burning around 300 tons of coal. This statistic as reported by The Guardian 5 months ago is literally old news, however I believe it bears repeating. If for no other reason than the fact that we (and our entire planet of fellow inhabitants) are and will continue to be impacted by the war in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, the war in Sudan and every other conflict in the world far beyond the time when these conflicts cease to exist.
To those who have had the temerity to take to the streets or hold forth righteously on college campuses across the world in opposition to the mindless horrors of war… I salute you… In the words of Rodney King, “Can we all just get along?”
Peace.
